With this project I was able to gain a lot of knowledge about 3D asset creation. As one of two UI artists on board I initially designed the overall style and later refined game features and menus based on the game designer’s needs. One challenge to be solved was the simultaneous display of a lot of resources, army units and stats in general.
Some time along the way we decided to connect our asset icons closer to the game’s 3D world. I spend some time learning modeling and vertex painting and started creating resource assets and UI elements that fit the game’s modern look quite nicely.
